Moving Maine Championed Two Bills to Support Better Mobility!
We heard loud and clear from individuals and organizations across the state that people want improvements to MaineCare transportation and more coordination of community transportation options.
In response, Moving Maine and our partners are championed two bills this legislative session and had successes with both of them. Click the “+” to learn ore about each bill.
-
This bill focuses on development of inter-agency coordination and the creation of mobility management hubs.
LD1451 was adapted into a Resolve that passed unanimously out of the Transportation Committee. The resulting bill creates a working group charged with developing the implementation plan for a mobility management program for Maine. Because of the unanimous committee vote, the bill is likely to be enacted without needing to go to a floor vote in the full legislature.
-
This bill focuses on making MaineCare transportation more efficient and effective for riders and for the state – a resounding priority for members of Moving Maine.
LD1835 was carried over to the 2026 session with a unanimous vote from the HHS Committee. MMN is invited to work on an amended version of the bill which will include creation of an Ombuds program to assist Maine people with concerns and complaints about MaineCare rides.
